The Environment's Materials Library:
Where matter becomes design

The physical co-working space and sensory experience for architects

The extensive material libraries, considered the true beating heart of our hubs in Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Lombardy, offer the extraordinary opportunity to explore finishes, fabrics, coverings, and furnishing materials in a completely direct, physical, and sensorial way. These surfaces are specifically designed to be observed up close, touched, and freely combined, to build customized solutions and define every single detail of the project with pinpoint precision. We gladly offer external architects, designers, and design firms the opportunity to use our hubs and our internal material libraries as work and meeting spaces. These environments are designed as true experiential ateliers, allowing professionals to develop projects side by side with their end clients, in a stimulating environment that fosters creativity, sharing, and dialogue.

Every surface represents a sensitive boundary between the human body and architectural space, and it is precisely at that point of contact that interior design transforms into a real experience of everyday life. In our Materials Library, the combination of materials is guided by principles of technical rationality, contemporary aesthetics, and functional durability. Through the creation of physical moodboards, designers and clients can combine real samples of fine woods (solid wood, heat-treated wood), natural stone (brushed marble, granite), brushed metals, colored glass, resins, and textured wallpapers. This approach transforms the technical selection process into a stimulating and tangible journey, where each finish is chosen for its ability to seamlessly integrate with the furnishing systems of the finest Italian design brands.

Integration with the digital material library and specifications

Our physical material library is not a static sample, but an integrated system connected to a digital database. Each sample of material present in the drawers of our showrooms is coded and linked directly to the manufacturers’ technical data sheets, price lists and digital textures used in our 3D rendering software. When an architect selects a combination of stones and fabrics with their client in the showroom, our technical office is able to instantly generate the metric calculation of the coverings and the technical installation specifications, translating the visual inspiration into rigorous tender specifications, ready to be delivered to the construction companies on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Material Library is a fully equipped area within our hubs housing thousands of physical samples of materials (wood, stone, fabrics, metals, wallpaper, and resins). During a session, guided by our consultants or completely independently if you’re a professional, the samples are arranged on special tables to create material “mood boards,” evaluating color combinations, light reflections, and tactile textures.

Yes, we encourage collaboration. L’Ambiente has designed its materials libraries as free co-working spaces for registered Architects and Designers. External professionals can book a workspace in the showroom and take advantage of the entire materials archive and the assistance of our technical office to develop projects together with their clients.

The archive includes all the official samples from our partner brands (Poliform, Minotti, Boffi, Rimadesio, etc.) complemented by an exclusive selection of vertical and horizontal coverings: marble and natural quarried stone, certified woods in various surface finishes, handcrafted washable wallpapers, large-format ceramics, spatula-finished resins, and a vast selection of furnishing fabrics, leathers, and high-resistance velvets.
