Interview
The new issue of Soul Design is a journey to discover the material element, and how it represents the first step in the creation or renovation of a living space.
The concept of “material”
Ecco una versione del testo revisionata per garantire che nessuna frase inizi con la stessa parola, mantenendo le frasi brevi e migliorando la fluidità: “Matter” embodies a kaleidoscope of meanings. Many wonder if it concerns visual perception, smell, or color. Ombretta Dal Zin, owner of Gruppo L’Ambiente, defines it differently. Her view considers matter primarily a tactile experience. Anything we touch conveys unique sensations and emotions. Engaging in “con-tact” allows us to build a relationship with our surroundings. For this reason, touch represents her starting point. These materials may be malleable, transformable, or fixed, yet they always evoke a physical impact. Additionally, one interprets matter through sight, hearing, and smell, as many substances emanate distinct essences. Such a material concept remains a living force. It interacts with various environments through either complementarity or contrast. Consequently, choosing the right materials for a home is a top priority. Professionals must also consider the specific characteristics of the surrounding area. Emphasizing local resources is crucial. In Cortina, for example, wood, marble, and iron are ideal when crafted by local experts. We prioritize these collaborations because local artisans create unique pieces that respect tradition. Cortina also hosts the Materioteca L’Ambiente. This showroom is entirely dedicated to materials. Visitors can explore hundreds of colors and textures to find the best combinations for their projects. “After we understand the client’s needs and lifestyle, the Materioteca becomes essential,” explains Dal Zin. “It acts as a foundation for interpreting their thoughts. Through this space, we create the perfect moods for every home.” Are you curious to read the entire interview?
