A distinctive silhouette, characterized by overlapping rounded volumes clearly inspired by the 1960s and 1970s, gives life to the Coupé seating system by Giampiero Tagliaferri.
The designer considers the project “a truly nostalgic yet forward-thinking seating experience: we have reinterpreted classic forms through a contemporary lens, striking a balance between vintage charm and modern functionality.” The reference to the aesthetics of 20th-century modernism is epitomized in the soft shapes, as well as in the exquisite couture details such as the deliberately tone-on-tone longitudinal stitching found in the leather version: an elegant graphic design, an expression of Minotti’s high-quality craftsmanship, which punctuates the entire volume, starting from the headrest, passing through the buttons on the backrest, and running along the entire seat.
The enveloping forms and ergonomic sinuosity of Coupé, ensured by the seat’s inclination specifically designed for maximum comfort, intersect with the strong horizontality of the padded headrest and lumbar support elements, creating a captivating visual dynamism that flows into the view of the armrest, highlighting the sofa’s cross-section.
“This design is based on a profound respect for the past, a tribute to an era when sofas embraced the body with inclined seats, offering unprecedented refinement and comfort,” confirms Tagliaferri. Distinguished by a broad abacus, the program allows for flexible layouts and allows for both grouping seats and using individual elements independently; among them, a sofa with decidedly generous proportions, characterized by a double inclination, stands out. With a highly recognizable style, this system features, on the front and back of the padded base, a curved frame in painted or polished brushed aluminum, which protects the upholstery while enhancing the entire silhouette.
