Riley

Sofa
A sinuous geometric motif defines the identity of the Riley seating system by Hannes Peer. With a timeless aesthetic, a hallmark of Minotti’s stylistic language, the architect defines it as “a dynamic and flexible seat that interprets the embrace of two perfectly complementary souls, balancing composure and expressiveness, rigor and naturalness, solidity and fluidity: one, coinciding with the exterior of the backrest, markedly architectural, and a second, softer interior, characterized by a strong decorative touch, inviting you to take a seat.” From the recessed metal base, the tub-shaped seat rises monolithically and solidly, enriched by light vertical quilting that punctuates the backrest and armrest, while a deeper profile, covered in leather, either contrasting or matching in color with the sofa upholstery, becomes the distinctive feature of the project. A trace, a continuous line, curved and straight, that caresses the square backrest and armrest until it forms a teardrop cut with a 45-degree angle at the angle between the armrest and the seat, transforming the sofa into an unprecedented couture object. The seat cushion is full, partially nestled in the padded base and embellished with a 5 cm band. The option of having elements with two different seat depths gives this system not only greater comfort but also an interesting interplay of combinable volumes.
