Plana

Side tables
A solid wood coffee table characterized by extreme technological complexity and a formally simple design, created in 1969 for the Japanese Embassy in Paris. Its synthesis stems from the powerful emotion Charlotte Perriand felt upon casually seeing an almost cyclopean boulder, its weight significantly attenuated by the natural smoothing of the surface caused by marine erosion. This is where the thickness of the top and the concave development of the edge come from, giving the piece a strong aesthetic and a sensation of remarkable lightness. The contrast between the figurative impact and the rational perception of its actual weight defines the uniqueness of this piece, which, thanks to the elaborate construction techniques, resists the deformations of time to which wooden structures are usually subject.
