Revisited from the Cassina archive and developed for outdoor use in collaboration with Studio Pesce, Dalila revisits two of the three models designed in 1980, reinterpreting them to suit the needs of outdoor spaces while preserving their formal identity.
Inspired by the famous biblical story of Samson and Delilah, this armchair designed by Gaetano Pesce was conceived as a manifesto-object and holds profound artistic significance. The design expresses the designer’s desire to transfer the uniqueness of artwork to industrial production, through the creation of “series-produced objects that are different, just as men are different,” similar but not identical. This vision challenged the industrial norms of the time and one that Cassina had the foresight to embrace, giving form and expression to its creative genius.
Dalila stands out for its sinuous volumes and fluid, archaic forms that define its sculptural presence, making it the protagonist of outdoor dining spaces in a dialogue between light and material. The seat is made of flexible polyurethane foam, covered with a thin layer of colored elastomeric material that ensures comfort and a welcoming feel even in outdoor spaces.
A sophisticated production technique minimizes joints, enhancing the continuity and purity of the design. The color palette has been carefully selected to harmoniously match the Cassina Outdoor Collection.
